:?: :?: Well I am moving in two weeks and will be upgrading my tank from a 55 to a 90ish. My first question is what tank can I feel safe with. I know Oceanic is the best, but are they so much better than the others. I have been hearing of OCEA aquariums at one LFS, but have also heard one bad story about them. I know Nature's View is made by Oceanic, and have heard good things about it. What is the general opinion of tanks and what to avoid.

Also when i move how much of the 55 gallon tank water should i keep for the new tank. I will alos be adding my first sump, so i will need a lot of water. And how long should i wait before putting my fish and corals in the new tank.

Any help will be greatly appreciated :?:

wow this post is like deja vu

i just moved and next week i will be breaking down the 55 i had and transfering it all to a 75. my new tank is an all glass and it was one of my LFS's show tanks before i got it so i'm sure it's good stuff. i will not be transfering any of my water because i have not been using ro and will in the new tank. this will meen aclimation will be an all day project but it's the best way for me. if you have been using ro take as much of the water as you can. what is the situation with substrait? now is a great time to make a change. good luck to you. if i hit any trouble i will give you a heads up so hopfully you won't make the same mistake. good luck

All-glass is OK, but if you have the money always look into Oceanic or Inter-American, both are a big step up in quality. Even better check out Acrylic tanks by manufacturers by Tenecor, Clarity plus etc. Acrylic has alot of advantages over glass including the ability to repair scratches, clearer viewing, round corners, much stronger and safer from potential leaks(great for apt. dwellers).

If you think you will be happy with the size tank that you are going to buy and keep it for a long while, than I would spend a little more and get an oceanic. Have you looked at the reef ready tanks?

I am still moving my 65 tank into a 120. Buy lots and lots of rubbermaid / sterilight style containers. you can never have too many of those. If you have sand in your tank, you can use a large container just for the sand. I would then set up your old tank with rocks only if you have sand, and then set up the new tank with the sand and allow it to stabalize before adding everything else.

I just posted pictures of my move, check em out.
