In retrospect, I think "Rumsfeldians" would have been a much better choice of words than "Nazis". Although I never pointed anyone out by name, it's obvious that a lot of people thougt I was referring to them.
Is it better to say "Rumsfeldian"? Hopefully, we Americans won't get upset when we are compared to one of our nations highest freedom fighters.

This thread is being closed. As a debate it had a lot of potential, and the subject matter is both relevant and interesting. Unfortunately some of the users couldn't control themselves with respect to making personal attacks at Reefcentral. Without getting too specific, I take exception to Dr. Reef calling the RC mods a few unpleasant things, and who knows what ErikS said, all his posts are deleted, even though they seemed to inflame just about everyone. It's too bad that a few people had to ruin what could have been a valuable discussion.
As for the dilemna Reefcentral faces, this is a tough situation that any of the boards can and will face at one time or another. A few of the posters definitely did see this point. Whether right or wrong, these boards don't have the financial means to defend against litigation. It appears as though none was even threatened, and I could not find the manufacturers of the seaswirl on Reefcentral's sponsor list, so I would appreciate it in the future, particularly in sensitive threads, if people would at least check their facts before posting. Neither of these issues are "opinions".
I have no immediate objections to a new thread being started to debate the DIY and reverse engineering versus patent infringement, etc, but any threads complaining about the conclusion of this thread, reinflaming the issues specifically discussed in this thread, or any posts that appear to have little purpose other than inflaming the relationship between aquarium websites will not be looked upon kindly, and will be dealt with as we see fit.
