I have a serpulid feather duster on the one side of my acropora and the side it is on turned brown. Is there anyway to remove it? I tried to just pull it off, but it just breaks the tube and in a few days it is back full size. Any ideas? Incase you don't know what they look like here is a picture of one, not the one one my coral.

It's odd that a vermetid snail (that's what that picture is of anyway) would affect your coral. I've had vermetid snails that acros and montipora have actually grown over, and it's quite neat to see, but the vermetid has never had any effect on the sps. I'm wondering if it's a coincidence. And remember, brown isn't necessarily bad in a coral. That is, after all, the natural color of zooxanthellae.

I had one that was irritating the mantle of a tridacna clam, and I took some large toenail clippers (the kind with pointed tips) and cut and crushed the shell of the vermitid to remove it.
