I just bought a cleaner wrasse today and after two hours it has disappeared. The fish was in great health and my water quality is good. This has happened to a few small chromis a couple months ago. The only other fish in the tank is a clown who hangs around the bubble tip. Sometimes I will hear clicking in the tank. I suspect a mantis shrimp but can't seem to find where his hole is. I've been able to flush others out of their holes in a bucket to capture them. Has anyone ever caught one in a trap. I am considering purchasing one and would like to know if they work. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Adam

Did you check to make sure the fish didnt jump out of the aquarium, or fall into the overflow if you have one? Are you sure the wrasse isnt hiding? They are known to be shy when first introduced to a tank.

could be, but two hours may be hiding time. for what it's worth i went through a period where i lost quite a few fish in a weeks span. just poof they were gone. 4 chromis a blenny and that evil damsel. never solved the mystery until one day at feeding time a gigantic crab came out of my rock. i'm not sure if it was an emerald crab i had added(if so DAMN it grew) or a hitchhiker but it was big (2") and it had to go. unfortunatly i had to kill it to get it out of it's hiding spot but never lost a fish since. good luck catching it if it is a mantis i have heard they are a *****.
