Everyone Else is posting ? about Skimmers...

I have an Excalibur Hang On on my 55g reef. (I know, I know it was purchased when I was first starting out, :? and I have to use it until I can afford a good one) I switched the rio powerhead it came with, which did absolutely crap for a long time, with a maxi-jet powerhead. It still is fairly inefficient and I'm really getting frustrated. Any other unlucky people who own one of these have any advice for improving its performance until I can replace it? It seems like I have to constantly adjust the outlet pipe to get it to foam :x

I had a Knop years ago (similar to yours) that was always in need of adjustment. I ended up replacing the air control valve with a good quality needle valve and the consistency improved considerably. I had it on a 50, and IMO it was only marginal at handling it.

Not sure if that helps. The only thing I can think that might actually increase the performance would be an airstone mod.
