Just looking to see if any members are making dyi sumps for sale. I have a glass tank which im going to try and drill myself. Dunno how its going to go, but if it fails i think i rather just buy one and avoid the headaches..THanks.
Hey perez, I'm in NYC and do alot of diy work with acrylic. It is definitely doable for far less than buying an acrylic sump, if you can't drill your glass sump. I have all the necessary tools, strip heaters for bending etc. if you want to borrow them. Working with acrylic is pretty easy, don't worry... Take a look at www.usplastic.com, you can design your sump according to their precut sizes, or ask them to cut to size.
I don't know how much a store sump costs EXACTLY but, I have a glass sump built by a friend of mine who is equipped to ship. I did not have mine drilled, but he offered many times because he has the hardware. The workmanship on my sump is about 300% better than my 38 AGA, which is an awesome tank. He builds glass showers, and sometimes tubs, and is very conscientous about what can cause danger to marine life. He OKd me 3x about the silicone I gave him.
