My Cowry detached a piece of cabbage leather(sinularia dura) I have no experience with propagating frags but I would like to save this coral. How should I go about saving it? The frag is about one inch in size.TIA
get yourself a rubberband and two small peices of LR,dead coral inert rock, etc. pinch the stalk of the coral in between the rocks and wrap rubberband around them. a week should be more than enough time for your coral to become fixed to rock.
Thanks that sounds easy enough,I didn't like the super glue technique but I did read about putting it in the substrate until it attached to the gravel that sounded good but my tank is 30" deep and I would have had to put gravel in a bowl or something and set it closer to the light's. Thanks again.
I've also played Vlad the Impaler with some of my soft coral frags and had success with this attachment method. Basically, you find a piece of liverock rubble w/ some holes in it and use 1 or 2 toothpicks to "spear" the base of the frag onto the rubble piece. You're basically impaling the frag on the rock. 8O
OK here's the finished product I broke a piece of dead coral in half and drilled a 1/8" hole through it , then passed a rubber band through the hole and tied the ends , this made it easy to open it up and place the frag between the two halfs.
congradulations! i don't believe i have heard of that one before! i have the utmost faith it will succeed. some of the best ideas are combining things that haven't been used together before. you should go into business.well done.
