Sump lighting yes or no

Is there any benefit for lighting my sump?
I have a 50 gallon sump with about 20lbs of live rock in it but I also have a 20gal refugium with Miracle Mud, live rock, macro algae and 24/7 lighting. I'd like to be able to keep the sump covered as to reduce evaporation there. I evaporate 1-2 gallons a day with the 400 watt MH and 2 x 4" fans.

I dont see any reason since you already have a refugium lit 24/7 unless you're trying to grow coraline for those rocks

No, I have plenty of nice coraline encrusted live rock in my tank and refugium I'm just trying to keep the rock in my sump "live". I know that anything needing light will probably die off but I'll still get some benefit from it in my sump correct?
