I ordered a nice rock with a large number (20+) of blue mushrooms on it. The only problem is that the rock itself just doesn't fit nicely anywhere in my tank. It's only a 40 gal., and I'm trying to arrange things carefully, and although I thought it could go in a particular spot, it just doesn't fit.

So I'm thinking about removing the shrooms and reattaching them to an existing rock or rocks in the tank. Can I just tear these things off, or lop off the disc and use that?

Any advice on holding in place for reattachment would also be appreciated. I assume some sort of netting would be best.

Thanks.

1st make sure you give them time to adapt to your water param. and lighting. then if you go to garf.com , they have many techniques for coral attatchment. hope this helps. just dont rush it.

easiest way to remove them is with a razor blade just lop off the top part of the shroom with the mouth intact.

place them in a container with some rock ruble and cover the top with wedding veil and wait about 2 weeks. they will attach to the ruble and you can glue the ruble pieces anywhere.

Don't get glue on the Mushrooms. They will let go. Just put the glue on the rock. I've moved Mushrooms around and made Mushroom rocks and it works great.

You can also use bridal veil and rubberbands/cableties to hold down shrooms anywhere you want in the tank. I am currently using the mesh that comes on a bag of onions.

I want to do this with some ricordea I have. Putting the polyps into a container with some rock for a couple of weeks - any concern over lack of current in it??

What I have heard works really well (havent tried) is getting a pvc end-cap, filling it with rubble and using a vail type material to hold it snug against the rubble... I persoanlly have use crazy glue gel and dabbed it on a piece of rock and then dropping the shroom on it and then used the vail.
