I have a 40 Gallon Breeder tank (36x18x15) with a 20 gallon sump that i've got a mixed reef going in. Current "fish" population is a Gold Band Maroon Clown, a baby firefish, and a Uniform Reef Eel.

People always ask me "where's the fish" when they're viewing the "fish tank." I usually just laugh, and explain about the corals.

Recently this has been on my mind more and more. Am I at capacity? Could my tank sustain a few more small fish (ie chromis)? What are your thoughts.

You have a fairly light load. That is good with a reef. Less load, less chance for bad algeas, etc.

You could probably add a couple more small fish to your tank without any problems. Assuming you have good control of nutrient export via good skimming, water changes, macro alrea, etc.

FWIW, I have a 180 with 75 gallon sump/ref, I have 7 fish with none over 3" long.
