The snowflake moray is only about 6 inches, just a baby. I know they feed on crustaceans in the wild but will he bother clams? :?: Also, what is the consensus on a coral beauty with clams? I keep the eel and fish well fed. Thanks for any help!

I believe the eel will not be a threat to your clams. When they get big enough, they will be able to rearrange your rock to their liking. Then the avalanche could pose a theat.

I wouldn't recommend any angel in a reef tank. 50/50 chance they will nip on your clams, coral, rock, glass, thermometer, and any thing else in your tank. Some people love angel so much that they think it is worth the risk. Just keep in mind, how will you get it out if it turns out to be a problem?

i had a snowflake for several years. started out about the same size that yours is now. when i got rid of him he was close to 2 feet long. i'd say one of his favorite foods was my snails. when i took apart my tank i found a snail graveyard in the tunnels that he made under all the rock. i even saw him attack one once. after he forced his head inside the snail opening he would drag them into his "underground lair", eat them, and then dispose of the shells. found about 15 empty shells in the tunnels. as for clams, i'm not too sure what a snowflake would do. i would guess that they wouldn't do anything to the clam since it doesn't resemble a snail or fish. one thing is for sure though- snowflakes are one of the most hardy things i've kept in my tank. mine decided one day to go up the exhaust pipe to my cpr back pack. once i realized he was missing i looked all over and finally found him in the protein skimmer cup. have no idea how long he was in there. didn't seem to phase him. just thought i would share my snowflake story with you :D

Echidna nebulosa (snowflake eel) will not harm your clam in anyway......is it a good idea to have one in a reef? That is another question. I like to have Centropyge angels in my reefs. It's not mandatory that they are in there but i love them. You will get a million opinions about wich ones are good or bad. That is another disscussion all together. Yes it is basically true though....he might like your clam....then again, maybe not.

I have a snowflake eel in my 135, that i had as a baby. He is about 2 1/2 feet long now, and he is fine in my tank. He only come out when he is hungry, i feed him in one sitting, (smelt, frozen shrimps, baby octopus, and mussel's. When he is done he goes and hide's under the rock for about 3 days, :D then come out to eat again. So anyways mine is fine in my reef tank
