This morning I noticed that I have algea growing under my dsb. I have a lighted 30 gallon refugium under my 105 display tank. I was wondering should I cover the bottom of the tank, or leave it exposed?

Will the red, green, brown, and purple algea that is growing under the dsb have any adverse effects on the display tank?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How deep is your DSB?

If you are starting to see green and red algae on bottom glass, I would guess your DSB is losing its anaerobic layer/zone. Anaerobic layer works in absence of O2. Presence of Green algae inidcated O2 is being produced and your denitrification function has lost.

You will need to paint it black or cover them up.
