lighting for rotifers

I am growing rotifers using the froozen instant algae stuff. Most articles on rotifers say that they should be lit, but the instant algae web page recomends darkness.

Will the rotifers grow slower without the light? I was thinking that mabey light is recomended becouse it is good for the phytoplankton, but that would not be applicable when using dead algae.

If you use live phyto, the light is for the phyto.

Check out the article in AA. I think they recommend a 16h photo period.

I do not use live phyto. I have read the articles that recomend lighting but I think that they might all be assuming the use of live phyto. I am trying to find a second source to confirm or contradict that lighting does not affect rotifer growth.
