I need help with this fish ID in a hurry

I didnt post this in the Hitchiker Forum because he's not a Hitchiker..I hope that's ok.

I'm worried.

My Green Filefish jumped a while ago. I had left one side of my eggcrate off and he jumped from the open side to the top of the eggcrate on the other side. Had I been MORE lax and left both sides off, he would have merely lept over the center brace into the water.

Anyhow, I called my LFS and ordered another. They called, said it was in, but they got a Hawaiian in instead. I did some research, found that hawaiian's are Aok, and went to pick it up.

This thing is COOL, and he seems like a good boy but doesn't look anything like the Hawaiian's that I saw pics of on Google.

He eats really well, loves the Nori (after only one day in the tank) isn't too shy, is BIG, but he doesn't have the orange tail that the Hawaiians have. (the ones that I found anyways)

Heres the problem...I've been searching and am afraid he may be a Scrawled Filefish. They get to be FOUR FEET in length. This guy is maybe 5 inches now.

Can anyone give me a definite ID? I'll need to take him back asap if that's what he is.

Doesn't appear to be a Scrawled Filefish. How about the Squaretail Filefish, Cantherhines sandwichiensis? Found a pic that's close (http://www.fishindex.com/phpphotos//41//83/28685) but it's hard to tell for sure.

Thanks, Vixy...that's close but mine doesn't have that big lower fin on his belly. Maybe he does but just hasn't put it down yet.

I hope it's not the Scrawled one.

No prob. PS - What size tank do you have the Filefish in? Just curious.

He's in a 75 FOWLR with a Harlequin Tusk and a Snowflake, among others. heres an older pic..I don't have the Foxface anymore.

I just fed the tank, my gosh this fish can eat! he is so cool...if I can't get positive ID, I'll have to wait and see how big he gets I guess. He's extremely peaceful, and he acts like he's been in the tank for years.

No to doubt anoyone ut looks more like a trigger to me with a beak like it has.

Most file fish has a longer and sharper spine on the top, versus the triggers. I believe you have filefish.

I have never seen the one you have in my libraries.
