Hi from down south I was wanting to get peoples opinion on chillers that they have I have a temperate system that I have cool and it is around 2000litres (Approx 500 gallons) that I have to keep at 18 degrees Celcius when the air temp can reach the high 30 and even low 40 celcius
So I would like to hear from you if you have a chiller that could handle this and then I will check on its avlability here in Austraila
Cheers Steve  :D

I have a Aqua Logic (or may be called a Delta Star depending on were you get it from) 1/6 hp. It's on a 50gal. tank with a 250 MH and 2 PCs. I live in an older mobil home in S.California. It can get realy hot in here, 90 deg. F +. In fact the heater only comes on just a few times in the winter on only the coldies days. The chiller works great. Temp. stays right were I want it, 76 to 78 deg. F. :D

18C is pretty low. What sort of tank are you keeping? I have trouble keeping my 600g system below 25C with my 3/4 hp custom sea life chiller. I am using 4X400W halides in addition to several high output pumps. I am happy with my chiller at this point. If you have significant haldide lighting in addition to high ambient temperatures and a 500g system, I would not go with anything less than 3/4 hp.

Ask your local supermarket. Ask around. Some of those commercial chiller may be what you should be looking at. I agree, 18C is pretty low, and with normal MH lighting and other gadgets we normally put into the system, you will probably need some heavy duty chiller for your need.

What are you trying to keep anyway?
