question for those who use b-ionic or those familiar with it...

i slowly add 15ml of each component to my tank (specs below )every morning. i have noticed that BEFORE i add component #1 the tank water is consistently around 7.9 every morning. upon ADDING #1, the tank ph jumps to about 8.2 for a minute or so then settles back down to 7.9-8.0. i'm using a brand new pinpoint ph monitor.

isn't this type of swing harmful? how do i avoid this swing?

In your case, I'd say it is desirable to raise the pH. If you want to have a neutral B-ionic, you can use the newer formula that is bicarbonate based, but with your tank pH, I think the original formula is best.

so should i not worry about my ph spiking by 3/10ths of a point within 30 seconds? that's really my concern is the fast spike from 7.9-8.2 in a matter of seconds.

thanks.

Brad,

the first part of the B-Ionic combo is the alkaline buffer that does increase the PH slightly for a bit. If yours is only going up .30 you are doing well. When I add mine, the PH goes up from .2 to .7, then settles back down.
