That doesn't look like it to me. Based on my experience, that looks a bit too dark and frilly for aiptasia, but it could just be the lighting.

Nope, not aiptasia. Looks like colonial anemones to me. Just as big of pests, but at least a little better looking! ;)

Thanks for helping me ID them. Now the question is, how do I get rid of them. I've been doing my research on removing Aptasia. Will pepermint shrimp and a copper buterfly do the same trick? I really don't want to grab a syringe and kill them one by one

I had those bas$%&# in my tank and I thought they were Safe anenomes. Wrong! They killed alot of corals. They walk all over the place stinging corals. I killed them off by injecting them with "Stop Aptasia". It works but the multiply really fast. I see one here and there now. Keep after them.

Anemonia mojano. Boiling kalk injections seem to work better with them than aiptasia. IMO it is because they have wider discs and are overall shorter than aiptasia. Which I think makes the injections easier.

Dan is right, they are Majano. And I agree boiling kalk injections is the best way to get rid of them. Peppermints will not work on these as well as they do on aiptasia.

I don't kow if this would work but what if I took a piece of rock with the outbreak and threw it in my sump. Would the pure darkeness kill them off without hurting the rock's critters?

Probably not, most sump areas are not totaly dark most have some back ground light from the aquarium lights or room. It may go pale and receed and then come back when the rock hits strong light again. I've seen aiptasia do that. A big can of pickling lime(kalk) is only about $3.00 plus water and heat form a microwave. Apply with a medicine dropper, syringe, small turky baster or baby medicine syringe. It's pretty cheap and easy.

Definitely majanos... I have a ton in my tank. They don't seem to sting as hard as aipastia, but are definitely a pain. I probably have about the same number as you and have tried peppermint shrimp, stop aipastia and kalk. Nothing has worked with much success. I'm now trying a raccoon butterfly who at this point looks like he's at least made a dent in the population....

If you try the butterfly, but advised that he may try and eat everything else in the tank as well....
