I have a 90g reef tank that is 24" deep 48"long aprox.20"wide.I recently upgraded my VHO system to a 4 bulb configuration. The bulbs that I'm currently using are (2)LRI aquasun, (1)Actinic "03" (1) Actinic white. The problem I've been noticing is#1. most of the coralline algae has turned dull on the rocks, but has increased on the glass. Very strange! #2 most of the Palythoa seems to dislike the light also. Also all parameters are right were they should be.Is there a better combination of bulbs that I should consider?

I use 2 Actinic 03, 1 Aquasun and 1 Actinic white (50/50) and am very pleased with it. I used to have 2 Actinic 03 and 2 Aquasun, but it seemed too pink.

Thanks for your input. I think that I will give the 2"03" a try.How long have you been using this combo and do you have any stony's under these lights?

URI recomends (2) actinic white and (2) 03 actinic.
That's what I run and am very happy with it.
The Aquasun bulbs are more for plants.

I use two Aquasun(10k so they say) and two actinics. Looks good to me. I think the other bulbs look too pink. However, when I change bulbs I am going 2Xactinic and 2X6500k. A little greener but I think it looks very natural.

I'm with LFS42, I use (2) actinic white and (2) 03 actinic over my 75g RR.
I used to run (2) aquasuns with (2) 03 actinic but for me it was to bleached out looking. The combo I'm using now seems more vibrant.
Just my .02

I run 6 URIs on my 75. After experimenting with different combinations, I went with 2 50/50s, 2 Aquasuns, and 2 Actinics. Every other combination looked too purple or pink to me. Anemone, photosynthetic gorgonians, and brain coral are thriving. HTH
