I was wondering what would help my live rock?

1. Do any of you guys add supplements to your live rock? like Iodine or calcium?

2. Do I need special lighting for live rock? I currently have 2 10,000k 15 watt lights in my 55gl and 1 20 watt 50/50 light in my 30gl.

3. What will help my live rock flourish?

There is nothing particular you need to do with rock. Just maintain good water quality, including calcium and alkalinity, and that should promote coralline growth.

Good lighting will typically inhibit coralling growth, not help it, so really your lighting does not matter. Get what your corals need, and the rock will adjust.

A nice bottle of scotch might help it out. Single malt. No wait, thats me. Send me a bottle of scotch. A little light, good water movement and good water params are all your rock needs.

The only additives I have used so far is DT's Phytoplankton and Idodine. The Iodine is for my shrimp. :)

If you want corraline algae to grow you need to add calcium; the B-ionic mentioned above is the easiest way to do it. Since the algae is a photosynthetic organism, of course it does need light. You might want to consider some brighter lights.

My coralline grows fast directly under my MH. I don't think it's inhibited by bright light. It grows on the upper side of my PVC plumbing exposed to the light.
