What am I doing wrong. I have a 55g flatbacl oceanic reef. I am having problems with my mushrooms, stoney coral and well some of my corals are just not thriving. I have been adding nutrients as well as doing water changes with ro and such. Could the problem be in the lighting that is over two years old....As lighting gets older and looses its spectrum does this effect reef life or could it be something else...Oh my lighting consist of 2 175w MH and 2 40 w blue acintics.
Any and all comments are welcome

If you haven't changed your light bulbs in two years, then I believe it's time for some new bulbs. From what I've read, corals aren't their best under old bulbs.

Po, GREAT Avatar!

JohnnyB,

Your lamps are definately shot. You better reduce for photoperiod when you replace the lamps, else you may bleach your corals.

I have been adding nutrients

What exactly do you mean by this. What nutrients are you adding?

How long have you had the tank setup for reef, and how often do you perform water changes. What exactly do you meant by "not thriving"? Is it tissue deterioration? Bleaching? How fast does it happen to your coral and how many has shown the symptoms already?
