Hi,
I have a queen turbo skimmer ts-2000 powered by an atman 104 (you have probably never heard of either of the peices of crap  ) but anyway some people get there queen skimmer tuned up real well so they say,
my queen skimmer use to make about 250ml of dark green watery skimmate every week  which is obviously ineficiant. i put in an airstone and tuned the skimmer so the bubbles were only at the bottom of the riser. After 1 night it will make about 300ml of dark green watery skimmate. Ive heard of people getting dark black sludge out of the skimmer a week (half full cup)
Things ive tried :
- adding a bioball to the air intake making smaller bubbles but not as many.
- adjusting the skimmer so the water level is low in the riser and high in the riser......
a few last things are that i am running the skimmer on the outside of my tank with about 1.5 foot of tube from the pump to the skimmer, and the pump is rated at 2000 letres per hour.
is there any of you out there that run one of these skimmers succesfully. if so how do u have it mounted and tuned etc etc etc
thanks in advance i wish you every fish keeping success.
brendan
