Yesterday I purchased a cleaner shrimp. The inhabitants of our tank loved it so much today I bought 2 more.

Now that the 3 have met it is a constant battle, 2 against 1. I am willing to let it all settle out but my woman is quite upset. She is almost panic stricken. I fear I will have no rest tomorrow if this is not straightened out. Is this normal or should I take one back to the LFS?

You may think this is silly but life will be hell for me if there is not harmony in the tank. Crazy vegetarians

this is just my opinion but if the fighting continues, i would suggest taking the one shrimp that is being picked on back to your lfs. he may end up just dying if the fights are bad enough.

I have two and they never fight--only mate--they hang out together all the time. I think it is a case of two's company and three's a crowd.

I have 5, what do you call that?

(well, I do have a term for it but cannot say it on this family oriented forum)...

Possibly two of his three are a mated pair and the third one is the odd man out. Do you see your shrimp eating or trying to eat pods? I am wondering if my cleaner shrimps are decimating the population at night.

The "pair" has stopped harrasing the singleton. Allthough they still need to stay a bit appart or they snap at eachother.

The shrimp are very aggressive at eating, all three of them. I am affraid I do not know what a "pod" is to know if they are eating it.

Thanks for everyones words, I just don't want to sit back and watch the carnage if it can be helped. I hate to bother the group over silly/simple issues.

it's not a silly issue. i for one favor my shrimpies and it's nice to see that someone else cares enough about their well being to inquire. :D
