Flushed 3 fish in one week!

July 30th you are flushing dead fish because you used them to cycle.

Add the detrivores after. Inverts won't take kindly to high ammonia and nitrite levels during cycling.

I originally posted this thread about my 20 gallon Q tank. I was always going to cycle the main tank with live rock and went off on a tangent asking about sand and detrivores. My Q tank has no live rock as I am going to treat fish in it with copper. So nothing gives. It was a mistake and I said I'm sorry. Had you read more attentively instead of jumping to conclusions and getting all worked up, you would have seen me say "(my 20 Gallon Q tank)" in my first post and then "(referring to my show tank)" in a later post about the LR.

Great Idea. I think I'll do that. It'll save me the water and electricity I would be using to run the Q tank for no reason now anyway.

The Q tank has a 2 inch PVC pipe for hiding and a rock I bought at the LFS but it's not live; one of those cement or lava rocks. The filtration is a home made trickle filter I made using a 5 gallon bucket, eggcrate, Bi-Ox bioballs, and PVC. I'll take a pic of the setup and post it when I get a chance.

Oh, forgot to add, you should leave the dead fish in there........your instant nitrogen source and let it rot. It is tragic that they have died, but what the hell, get the best use out of them.

But, DON'T DO IT ANYMORE, get LRs and that should do it for ya.

reefsRcool, I think you are referring to putting a hammer to my tank. There is no other reason why you would post this but to start an argument, so I'm not gonna stoop to your level. You promised yourself you wouldn't get involved here: you said the same thing on the second page of "My semi-random rant for this month" but you kept on going. Why not keep your promise for once and avoid arguments? Oh and don't send me vulgar private messages cursing me out this time; they really aren't productive at all.

Hey “I”, what ever you do, don’t ever and I mean ever post that you bought a Tang for your tank or you will need fireman’s suit to keep you from being torched.
