Now that ER is using eheim pumps as well and larger ones at that what does everyone think of their skimmers? Everyone liked H&S over Deltec due to the price difference and availability of parts. ER has H&S beat on both the way H&S had Deltec beat.

Those who play rugby with their skimmers aside, what's the consensus?

I am going BM.
Back to topic :)

I"m only talking about eheim vs. eheim skimmers here. There was SO MUCH here on MR about how H&S was superior to deltec in performance, price an service. Now that ER is using eheim needle wheels cheaper than H&S and at lower skimmer heights (biggest complaint about H&S) I"m just wondering how everyone feels.

Anyone try or see an eheim ER?

How much are the ER's? How much value will it retain when you find another skimmer you want to buy? :lol2:

The few I saw with Eheim pumps at MACNA was pretty well built, their booth was right across from H&S and I would have to say I was impressed looking at both. Their customer service has been problematic in the past and I am not sure if they have improved much from their post on RC.

Well to be honest the customer service at ER has been pretty good to me. Chip always emails me back, and when i left my number he called me back that same day, so i can't complain.

I asked Jeff about putting an eheim on my current cs135 skimmer and he said it's too much power for it. Furthermore he also told me that the eheim 1060 h&s uses is really a 1062. He said they are currently testing a smaller eheim to use on the smaller skimmers.

I think it's a toss up. The build quality of the ER's are superb. Toss in an eheim pump and you're in business. But then again, not many h&s owners complain much either. So flip a coin!

Standard Eheim 1260 and 1262 pumps have the same body/magnet and impeller, I have both pumps and tested them. The only difference I can find is the intake plate, the 1262 have a larger bore. They both uses same amount of power when ran under no load, 1262 will use slightly more when water is being pumped.

Both H&S and Deltec uses body labeled as 1260 but 1262 intake plate with the intake bore modified to get more flow. Kinda like oversizing the intake manafold on cars to get more air. ER is right in their statement, but power comsumption or material wise it does not make any difference.

Cali, in your opinion is it worth it to swap out a sedra pump for an eheim?

For someone getting an h&s, which would be better, the aquabee models or the eheim?

I never had a working sedra pump so I don't know but Eheim pumps are really well built and last forever. To get a Deltec or H&S 1260 needle wheel is not worth the money, they want too much $$ to dremel out the bore and slap on a plastic needle wheel.

I think the two Aquabee on an A200 will perform better than a single 1260, it will pull more air. The quality and longevity of Aquabee are an issue, most people have problems with their Aquabee pumps and not many people experience problems with the Eheims.

We are messing up Fred's thread :lol2:

Sorry Fred!

You know these skimmer threads always get off topic.
