Hi, I have only four fish in my tank a Red Coris Wrasse (5inch) a couple of Clowns, and a red flame hawkfish 3inch..

I just bought the hawkfish, beautiful little guy eats well, very healthy BUT now all of the sudden my once passive Wrasse is pissed off and chasing him all the time!! my wrasse has some big teeth and im afraid and worried for my hawkfish :( ... I tried moving one small live rock around so I can make the wrasse focus his energy on something else, but it didnt work.

P.S. Sometimes it almost looks like the wrasses is just playing around though, he has had alot of chances to take big bites from the hawkfish but he just swims right by him, it looks almost like he is playing a game with him.... Do you think this problem will go away or am I going to have to take the hawkfish back?

It's hard to tell why without knowing the size of your tank! Because the Wrasse could be ho-wrassing your hawk over space territory!

its a 55gallon tank, for four fish it should be plenty of space. all i have in there is live rock, anemone, and some polyps.

The aggression will likely subside with time. The wrasse is simply showing who's boss in the tank.

However, Red Coris (Coris gaimard) get well over a foot long. A 55 gallon will soon be way too small for this active monster. If I had a choice between it and the hawk, I'd keep the hawk and remove the Coris.

Thank you for your responce, I hope he stops this behavior soon :( .. Ive had the Coris for 2 years now and it will be very hard to get rid of him no matter how angry I am at him at this moment (while writing this he just chased my hawkfish across the tank!)
