I have heard that if you take a picture of a BTA hosting a false perc (or whatever the specific anemonefish and anemone you may have), and tape it to the aquarium, it will usually figure it out. LFS says that is common for aquacultured percs, because they need to be "shown what to do".

Heh, I've got 2 anenomes (split) next to each other, and got a new small false clown several weeks ago. Also got several Damsels ( didn't know they were Hell spawn then) also. Now, the Domino Damsel likes to pretend its a Clown by practically hosting also.

They are best buddies, and live next to each other too :P

young dominoes will do this but be warned once he's big he wont go in it and he will get super agressive. i have a mated pair in a seperate tank i tried to put fish in there but what happened was i put the new fish in every thing seemed fine i walked away for a min a heard these wierd purring noises and shure enough it was the dominoes chasing the other fish around and trying to kill it. it was wierd to hear the strange purring kinda cool also but i wouldent suggest to anyone to buy one of these mean a-holes.

Reefsrcool, it can take a lot of patience. My original pair of clowns took months to notice the anemone, but finally did. In my current setup, it took a couple months for the big mama clown to host in my hadonni, and her prospective mate has yet to get the idea.

Will,

Thanks, I've noticed the Damsels are actually pretty agressive. And of course, noticed that just after I went out and bought 3-4 of them for my home tank and cycling work tank.

The Domino is already the aggressive one of the tank now, although he doesn't mess with the slightly smaller clown. Now, its all about building a smarter fish trap, or getting a super small fly fishing lure.....

FWIW, the clown took about 2 days to become comfortable with the tank before he started hosting.
