Hello guys

I have recently purchased a MTC pro cal and i can not seem to balance calcium and alk.

My readings :

C02 = 1 bubble a second
Reactor ph : 6.10
Alk in Reactor : 40 dkh
Output Flow Meter : .025-.030 ( 1 drop a second )

My tank : 190 reef with 50 gallon sump. LPS SPS AND Clams
PH :8.00
Alk : 14 dkh
Calcium :300

It has been about 2 weeks, i lost lots of corraline algae and got lots of green algae. What has to be done to bring the calcium up?

Can i have some suggests please.

Do i increase the Co2 in the reactor? Do i increase the output? Iam getting lots of different opinions and they all contradict eachother.

If you have this unit please leave me your email and i can contact you.

Thank You.

There are two basic asjustments that can be made to an operational reactor, the effluent rate and the amount of CO2 added. The trick is to balance the output of the reactor with the daily consumption of alkalinity in the tank.
Increasing the CO2, while maintaining the effluent rate, results in a decrease in the ph of the reactor and an increase in the solubility of the reactor media and hence a higher alkalinity in the effluent.
Increasing the effluent flow rate, while maintaining a fixed amount of CO2 will result in an increase in ph in the reactor and a reduction in the alkalinity of the effluent.

I would get the calcium up with calcium chloride, kent turbo calcium is a good choice or the 2 part liquid. B-ionic.

Once the calcium is at the level you desire check you alkalinity. Make sure it is at the desired level as well. At this point I would increase the flow of the effluent of the reactor(output flow meter). I would let this run for 24 hours and check both alk and Ca again, making the proper adjustment to your reactor if needed. Wait 24 hours and check again.
Hope this helps.
