In the past few days, I have noticed that there are some chunks of my colt coral missing. I am not sure if something is eating it or if it is just unhealthy, but I would bet that something is eating it. One of the branches is just barely hanging on and I found one on the sand bed this morning. In the tank is a yellow tang, a hawkfish, two damsels, a maroon clown, a cardinal fish, and several hermit crabs, but I have never seen anything eating it or picking at it. All other corals in the tank are doing very good, and water quality is high. Do you think somthing could be eating it?

Check at night for a nudi that looks similar to this.

I had the same problem, water parameters all in check, all other corals doing fine except my cadiella sp. which seemed to be disappearing day by day. One night I noticed one of these guys, and upon further research found that this is one of their favorite meals. I ended up pulling 8 out over a 3 day period and scrubbing off an egg strand. It was a little too late to save the coral in my case, but hope this helps. I only saw them at night.

Have you added anything new to the tank recently? There were several people last week that had problems with a parasitic nudibranch that hitchhiked in on some live rock. Went straight for the colt.
