I'm looking at these for a mixed reef 72 gallong tank. Are they all roughly equal quality? if not, which are the best? much thanks:

Turboflotor 1000 Mutli (rated for 250 gallon

Coral Life super skimmer (rated for 125 gallon)

ASM G-1x (rated for 150 gallon)
PCI (octopus) RPS-1000 Skimmer (rated for 125 gallon)

FYI ther ratings on most if not all skimmer are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy overrated. The skimmers you listed are kind of small and underpowered for a 72gal unless you plan on doing lots of water changes and maintence. If you are going to get an ASM go with the G-3. PM Neptune, he has a used one F/S pretty cheap.

I love my Turboflotor Multi with the oceanrunner PH2500 pump, and my tank is a 155 Bow Front mix reef(leathers, lps, shrooms, palys, zoas, few easy sps along with 1crocea clam, 4 shrimps, numerous snails,crabs,5 star fish, and quite a few fish (5 tangs,7anthias,3wrasse,3chromis,1scooter blenny,1damsel). I've included a couple of pics of the skimmer in action & tank as 3/17/07. Everything has grown alot since then.

BUT if you are going SPS then listen to others and not me.:usa1:

I use an MRC 2 for my 180. Before that I had a Red Sea Berlin which was rated for up to a 250 but I think they may have a made a typo! LOL You can't go wrong if you get a bigger skimmer. PS.... Awilda your tank looks better and better every time I see it!

I can second the MRC MR-2, I have the single beckett model on my 100g. Seems to skim the heck out of the water. Unfortunately it's not the quietest or cost effective method but I'm pleased.

If you choose the right pump and have it inside a cabinet the noise shouldn't be an issue.

When I was shopping for a skimmer multiple people told me to look for a rating at least twice the size of your tank.

If you're going with an in cabinet model I'd recommend a needle wheel skimmer. The Euro-Reef skimmers are very good as are the deltec. H&S also makes good skimmers but you'll have to have them custom made to be a little shorter as by default they are quite tall.
