:D

Hello all:

First off, I am returning to the reef tank hobby after a hiatus of about 6 years. I will be setting up my 75 gal tank using live rock and live sand. In my previous system, I had used a trickle filter/protein skimmer combo. I'm doing away with the trickle, and using the filter box as a sump.I have a rainbow lifeguard pump for the main water circulation.Since i've been out of touch with the hobby, I would like to know which brand/model protein skimmer would benefit me most. Cost is not completely a factor, but I'd like something in the medium price range, maybe rated for at least twice my tank's capacity. Do ETS still manufacture decent skimmers?
My previous skimmer was an Amiracle 48' venturi which eventually broke. I would like something that fits inside the sump.

Thank you for any help you can give me!!!!

Tony

BTW welcome back to the hobby. I was between houses for about three years and couldn't have any myself. It got really depressing not having a reef to look at. But now life is back to normal, I have my reef and all is righ with the world. :D

Thanks guys, as you can imagine, it's all a little daunting, but i want to be able to do it right from the start. the great thing about this is all the resources on the web. This wasn't available when I was reef-keeping. you had to rely on books, magazines, and hope that your supplier was leading you down the right path, and not just selling you a load of crap!

I will be back often............

Before i go, I was wondering how many pounds of live sand you would recommend for my 75 gal. I have 50 lbs of Fiji rock waiting in a holding tank (an X-mas gift from my wife), and i plan to add at least another 25, maybe 30.........

:D Tony

PS..... Happy New Year!
