Pipefish

Has anyone here sucessfully kept Pipefish in a reef tank?

Do not house a pipe fish in a reef tank, they are not reef fish. they will either starve or be bashed by the pump currents. they are combaqtable with seahorses in their own passive tank. if you value ocean life do not place into a reef tank....

How about in a 20 gal fuge w/ mangroves?

The pipefish would prob like your fuge but after a time would defete the reason you have a fuge as the pipe would eat all the pods etc and leave the fuge raped of it's microlife then you would need to feed it and most likly it will then only eat live food and you will lose it in the end run. if you want a pipe put a couple in their own small tank and try to wean them over to frozen mysis ( not easy to do. takes patience and dedication, and very often meets in failure and you lose the fish.)

Yea! I could tell you are intellegent, good decision. some if not many animals are best left in their natural invironment. the pipe is one of those as is the moorish idol etc,etc. keep reefin there is a lot to enjoy.
