My husband just came back from Cape Hatteras and cought several sharks including a 6 foot black tip shark. Attached
to the undersides were some Remoras. He thought they were very cool - they are. Anyway - to make a long story short, I now have one that is about 5 inches living in my tank. I have tried to research them and see if they have been successfully kept captively, but I found nothing which I think is a bad sign.

Unfortunately, I'm too far from Hatteras to return him/her so I am trying to investigate care and concerns. Any tips would be great.

Please keep the bashing to a minimum as I know the drill. My husband isn't up on reef keeping and thought he was bringing me a great gift.

Thanks all.

I had one about 15 years ago. It was a greedy voracious eater on the order of a Red Emporer Snapper. If you fill its belly it will produce a lot of waste. There are defintely more attractive and more suitable fish, but they are hardy IMO.

How about comaptibility with other fish in the tank. I have a medium sized perc that I'd hate to lose. He actually is very cool looking...

He also brought some urchins too. All the pinks ones died even after 1.5 hour acclimation, but the dark red ones are alive - im not sure about thriving.

He met someone in Hatteras that collects critters and adds them to his tank. I must admit his tank is very cool, but things that did well in his tank have not survived in mine.

Its been a mess and the skimmer is doing over time.

Needless to say - the hubby and I had a long talk about wildlife collection.

I kept mine with large fish but he had a big mouth and knew how to use it. I'd lose it if you value the perk.
What is the water temp around Cape Hatteras?
