In brief, the book is the product of a six-year collaboration amongst 45 researchers from 17 countries, and consists of about 1800pp in 2 volumes, hard bound. The book is a practical tool as well as a major taxonomic revision of the phylum. It presents a complete classification (genus level and above) of all 4 classes of sponges and 'spongiomorphs', providing keys and about 1200 illustrations to aid identifications.
The book will be expensive (like about 625 euros or US$600 !), but the publishers have made a 'generous' pre-publication offer of 100 euros (or US$99.95). This pre-publication offer is about to expire (31 October), and is available only to individuals (not to institutions).
