AFTER I STARTED USING MY WATER I FOUND IN THE DIRECTIONS THAT I MUST PURGE UNIT WITH DI UNIT DISCONNECTED FAILURE TO DO SO WILL DAMAGE DI UNIT , I RAN IT FOR ABOUT 2HOURS WITH DI UNIT HOOKED UP. SHOULD I REPLACE DI UNIT OR HAVE I JUST SHORTENED THE LIFE SPAN.
You've either exhausted some or all the life from the DI, most likely the former. RO units take time to "spool" once you install a new cartridge, and that's why they recommend you not use the DI unit unil the RO membrane breaks in. I'm sorry but I can't really tell you if the DI is still usable.
IIRC there is some type of preservative on the new RO membrane that you're trying to flush out before you use any of the product water.
If you have a TDS meter, test your product water (with the DI hooked up). If your TDS levels are at 0 ppm I wouldn't worry about it. If you ruined the DI cartridge you'll probably show at least a few ppm TDS in the product water.
Most likely you just shortened the life of your DI cartridge - not really a big deal IMO.
thats exactly what the manufacture said. They said it is a common mistake
and that they have run a unit without purging several times and tds still test 0 ........the final answer was that i shortened the life
thanks for the help
