ok get this a week ago i moved about 50lbs of live rock from my 90gal over to my 120 that i am cycling for a sea horse only tank, 5 days ago i added 30 more lbs of sugar sand and the tank was clouded untill today. so im lookin at my tank trying to figure out how to move the sand around to make it look cool, and out of the corner of my eye i catch some move ment. i go in for a closer look only to discover my damn yellow damsel is in my new tank!!!!!!!!!! that little s.o.b. hid in the rock as i moved it over and now i have like 6" of fine sand over most of the huge (12"x18"x4") rock he has decided to make his home.....how the hell am i gonna get him out now....

Sorry Willc, first response to this was ROFLMFAO!

Now, you could try the reverse since the little bugger is so attached to this rock- just remove it, put in a bucket , wait for him to come out, and then QUICKLY remove it or him.

Damn, thats one smart little damsel though.

I was able to get a damsel out of the tank by first starving him for a while ,then I tied a piece of krill to a fish net, a flick of my wrist and that baby was outa there. Here fishy fishy fishy......

the fish wont leave the rock yet, not even for food! i have it piled at one end of the tank the rest of it about 5' is wide open and he wont even swim around he just looks out from the rock laughing at me i presume. i think i will starve him a little then mabe try putting some food in at the open end. hope fully he will leave the rock as so as he does im gonna put a piece of plexi in between the open end and the rock i hope this will work. another option i was thinking about was to put a school of green chromis in there. mabe he would feel safer with more fish...i wanted to cycle the tank with the green chromis any way but not with the damsels from hell.

I would seriously try it when the tank is ready if all else fails. I had to remove all my rock to get mine out. One out of three hid in the rock....one died before I realized it. However it was just a 29 gallon tank.

Dead Serious man....get a 4-5" clown or queen Trigger. They are tough enough to withstand a cycle and are big enough to be mean

Ok ok..just freakin take the rock out a piece at a time and stick it in a tub of saltwater with a heater. However you will have to figure out which rock he decides to hide in. Trust me he will do it again.

I know they are omnivorous so starvin will not work. I just saw a post about a guy that used PC pie with a net on the end.just place food in and around the pipe.....then lifted it out when the fish was chased in with your hand. I just remove the rock now.I found it actually easier and less agravating in the long run.
