I've never heard of 1 in 4 holes causing the tank to crack, heck some people have 4-6 holes on thier main tank, for complex closed loops!

I wouldnt do a tank without a float valve, it makes maintanence so easy, I have my float turn a pump on/off that adds evap makeup water. The trick is make sure the pump can only pump very very slowly, so if you did have a problem, it cant overwhelm the tank with fw or kalkwasser (if you choose that route). L8r mega

well...I have contacted several glass shopes here in my area in regards to drilling holes on my glass aqaurium. None of them would garuntee me that it would not crack. So there must be something behind that.

smokin..gee..go figure..im not a dumb ass you know...I made that comment because if breaking glass does not happin frequently while drilling, then why say they do not garuntee it.

SPC, from my LFS

-Oh I see, well then what you meant to say originally then was that 25% of the holes your LFS drills have a cracking problem, I can't disagree with that.

-IMO they don't make enough money off drilling these holes to guarantee this. In my line of work I have people ask me to mount towel holders etc... on tile walls. 95% of the time there is no problem, but that 5% of the time can eat all your profits up for the other 95% if you crack a couple of tiles. The reason for this is that when you begin to remove a broken tile, it can become a domino effect. I tell the person up front that I will not guarantee this work and explain to them what the risks are.
