The Fiji Gov had a meeting on July 15 th at the fisheries conference room in Lami The permanent Secreyary for the local Government and , Housing, squatter settlement & Enviromental stated ' while the required reduced quotta is being adressed no export of coral is allowed" The hold of all coral exports will only be lifted once there is a decision made by corresepondence from CITES Geneva. This fax has been traced to Fiji Fisheries? The guys at Walt smith act like they have no idea? Yet keep in mind that this company has been going full steam twards cultured live rock and coral fraggsfor months{ which is greatbut}, Walt Smith also has SOLEY been advertizing the cultuered products for months? While dopping his prices on wild collected? Perhaps they Know more then they claim? We should Know soon....they {FIJI}are to allow the existing CITES permits to run out ,which should take about thirty days. {please read my new post on the Hawaii corals smuggler.....Now the truth about that event is truly scary!!

From the information I was given, the only thing going on right now in Fiji is that one of the two airline companies servicing the area is on strike. So, instead of the two days the flights leave there (one airline for one day, one for the other) there's only one day which stuff is able to leave. With fewer service comes fewer space so not as much is going to leave.

Everything I have been told about the CITIES issue is that is has to do with europe. But ask me again Friday and I'll know better since that is when my rock is supposed to be here.
