I had a Sohal tang in my 60g tank for 2 years before he died in a heat wave (didn't have a chiller yet ). Yes I know...tang was too big for my tank. It was my second fish I bought and I was ignorant. I was going off LFS’s judgment :? .

I was at my LFS today and saw a few beautiful healthy small Sohals (4-5"). I came home and did a little research (so I don't get blasted!) on the tank size needed (hopefully tang police agree :wink: ). I think my tank would be ok.

The Sohal I had was a little aggressive when hungry, but when he had food he didn't bother anyone. My technique was to keep brown and green seaweed selects in the tank 24/7. I also was able to nurse him through ich 2 times with garlic extract and lots of food. So I have had experience with the fish.

So if I were to buy this fish it would get a new home of a 190g tank, 73x24x25. 210 pounds LR, 350 pounds LS, Euro-reef CS8-3.

The sohol tang would make a nice addition to a tank your size and length.

However, they are wicked against other tangs and you will not be able to keep peaceful type fish either.
Do the garlic regimen as you did before as an ich preventative.

I know Sohal's can be nasty towards other tangs. Mine was definitely the king of the tank. He was however pretty peaceful towards my purple tang. Maybe I just got lucky.

Yeah, I think you were lucky too, I´ve looking forward to buying one for my 300 but haven´t because I don´t want him to harras my other fishes including a purple, yellow and regal tangs.

Just curious having just bought a cs8-2 that wont be set up for a few more months, why would you upgrade to the cs8-3? I remember seeing that you had a cs8-2 on your current setup. Is it not taking care of business?

Yikes! Thanks for catching that...I must have made a mistake on my website. I have always had a CS8-3. It works great.
