My 200 FOWLR tank has ich in it. I have quarantined and done hypo on all the fish, but I believed I contaminated the tank with some liverock that I put in from the LFS.
Question is: Can I take all the liverock out (210pounds) and place it in rubber containers with a heater and powerhead ...and keep it alive??? Would I have to place lights on it as well? Should there or would there be any die off??
thanks guys

ick has to have a host (fish) to survive. your live rock could have been a carrier in the beginning but it cannot be a host.
Leave the live rock in the tank and leave it fishless for at least a month and it will die off on its own.
I had a ick break out in my 120g due to a bad heater and treated the fish with hypo and then left the tank running "as is" minus all fish for one month and everything went perfectly.

Sorry, I must not have explained myself very well. I have fish in the tank already! I want to do hypo with them, but not with the liverock in there. I think it's easier to move the rock out for awhile rather then buy another aquarium to house the fish...but I don't want the liverock to die???

you can keep the lr just fine in tubs w/circulation-only the photosynthetic organisms(like coralline)will need lighting.but the rock and bacteria should be fine.

you'll also need to 'feed' the bacterial fauna somehow-to keep the rock at the 'processing capacity' needed to match the load of the tank when you reintroduce it.(ocassional fish food should work)

a skimmer on the tub system would also be advisable
