I'm setting up a 65gallon refuguim to go on my 180, and I was wondering what pump I should use to feed it. I was planning on just using a MJ1200, but now I'm thinking maybe I should go with a Mag 3 or 5. Any thoughts? Also, I know a refugium this size will have to go through its own cycle, so what is the best way to "acclimate", so to speak, the main tank to the refugium? Maybe just open the circuit for a few minutes a day for a week or so? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks,
Jayme

How will you have this plumbed to your existing system? Is it a separate tank that you will be feeding from your sump? If so, I'd say a Mag5 would probably do the trick as long as there isn't much piping between the refugium and the sump. Your refugium may go thru it's own little cycle during the setup phase. Monitor your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate and when the cycle is complete (if you even see a cycle), then I woudl think you'd be fine to just fire it up and go.
