I am in the Keys this week. According to the Flordia fishing regulations I can take 'no more than 6 octocoral colonies' per day, but 'no stony, hard or fire corals, or sea fans'.

I take this to mean I could take some collect some gorgs, and there are bunches of small ones under the bridges where I am staying.

Has anyone done this and flown out of Flordia with their collections? Is that legal? Any other info I should know?

Thanks

You are correct Righty, all you need is a Fla fishing licence. One other thing you may not have read, you must send Steve one of each kind of Gorg you collect or face heavy fines and or imprisonment.

Deep -

Sorry about the spelling. The sun down here has baked my brains, which is why I am on the net today and not diving.

Steve -

I can only send you some Gorgs if you send me your damn address!

How do you like the Keys?

In order to take anything, you will need a fishing license (you can obtain a 3 day fishing license for a couple of bucks at any bait and tackle shop).

Be careful what species you get. This is what you can take:
Soft corals - Any species of the Subclass Octocorallia, except sea fans Gorgonia flabellum and Gorgonia ventalina.

I got that from here:

I don't know what to tell you about flying, cause I have never tried it.
Good luck.
