Can anyone recommend a humidty sensor that can directly switch a 110VAC exhaust fan? The humidistats that I see appear to only switch 24VAC or the like, which implies they are intended to be connected to a relay which would then do the 110VAC switching.

Anyone know of a ready to do gadget that would save me putting together a relay / humidistat combo on my own..... I really need to get my fish room vented....

Thanks
Mike

Check out www.mcmaster.com and search for "humidstats", I found on on there that will swich 120VAC up to 6amps (2123K14). I don't know why you couldn't use it....It's intended to be hooked up to a humidifier, but I can't think of a reason why you couldn't hook to a fan instead...It's just throwing a switch based on humidity.

thanks.... I've run across a couple others as well... looks like all the direct line-voltage switching ones are in the $80 - $120 range.... I might just wire the fan up to a digital timer with 8 events / day and let it run for 30 minutes or so at a time.....
