Hey guys what do you suggest for times of your lights turning off and on. I know that you want to have them on for about 12 hours a day, but I want to see my tank lights on around 10pm or so. so would be a good idea to have them turn on at 10:30am then off at 10:30 PM. the room that the tank is in will get some morning light, but the tank is 10 ft from teh window. the window faces east so the tank will get some light. would that be a good "sunrising" light for them, then have the tank lights turn on. also should I stagger my lights turning on. I can turn 1 on then 2 on. any thoughts.

staggering is probably good if you have actinics. i cant stagger mine but if i could, i would. i use a 9 hour photoperiod: 12PM - 9PM. since you have a 12 hr period, u could have the actinics on 1 1/2 hour in the morning, all lights 9 hours, and 1 1/2 hours at night = 12 hours

alot of your inverts will begin closing up about 1/2-1 hr before your lights go off, in 'anticipation' of 'nightfall'-so if you want to see 'em in full expansion at later hrs(when you get home at nite)-i would recommend having the photoperiod end at least an hr or two after your personal 'prime time' viewing window. if you're getting some natural sun in the tank during the day-i suggest you try having the lights staggered to start at 1&2 p.m-and start shutting down around midnight-1 a.m. this should also be more than adequate for their requirements.
you could also try a 'reverse photoperiod'-have the lights come on around 8 pm-6 am-this will also combat heat issues in the summertime!
