:(i have a 65 galon tank with 65 pounds of live rock sump filter protien skimmer the tank was set up 1 year with no trouble at all then last month i bought a new glass scraper and after useing it in two days all my fish died snails and hermits are still alive ok the scraper had something on it-so i changed 30 gallon of water and waited two weeks then put two damsels in and they did not look real good when i put them in i thought they looked ok at the store they died one-two days then the other a week-checked the water and results were great i thought all was good so i tried two more damsels one had alot of damage to its tail and died within a day the other had white patches around the gills this spread to other areas this damsel was breathing rapidly and was dead within a day now i notice that there are at times a worm like thing floating up from my live rock-- the worm like things are a wiggly type thing tiny like 1/4 to 3/8 inch long kinda tan in color--so what is going on here--thanks

Wow Sam, sorry about the disaster!

It is hard for me to imagine that the glass scraper could have caused your problem, unless it had something truly poisonous on it. I also doubt it is the worm-like guys you spotted.

Maybe if you post some more info about your system some of the old hands around here can help. Did the fish show any signs of disease or discomfort in the days leading up to the disaster? Any other changes to your system? How are the system params?

What's the mangetic scraper's name?

BTW, can you break sentences up by inserting comma, period, and other punctuation? Your post is not the easiest to read.

--the fish were fine till i used the scraper it was a plastic long handle one with a sponge atached to the back of it--the clowns were very healthy and when i was cleaning the glass they would play around then all of a sudden they hid in the rocks and the large one started breathing fast and was dead in a few hrs--the only other thing that did happen is there was a slug type nutabrant on a rock and i tried to remove it --it broke up and i only got a peace of it out it was a gray slug type with two horns the body was about 1/2 inch long--------none of the fish that died before that had any signs at all of anything wrong/ now i cant keep a damsell alive they get like scared and hidethen die in a day or so but two that i had bought did not look to good one had its fins chewed up and the other had white spots on its gills when it died -- and now i have the worm thing going on ?? are they a problem ?? if so what to do ??the water has been checked out by my store and me and comes up good did get a toxin ??from the scraper?? should i start over with new water??thanks

If I were a betting man I'd also say it was related to the cuke/nudi. I really doubt that the scrapper had anything to do with it. I would add carbon and do a series of large water changes for about a week and then add a damsel and see what hapens....

--yes i have put a carbon filter in about a week ago --and the nudibranch --or cuke was my thought also i have read somewhere that when they die they give of a deadly toxin ??and i crushed it trying to remove it and it all happened at the same time when useing the scraper ---that was when i found the cridder so maybe ---------------i had one of them last year but removed it with a turky baster should have done that this time ===thanks again really-- things are looking well in there as of today any new fish sugestions ??
