I have an All Glass 90 gallon with the overflow in the corner. I am planning on running a sump with the miracle mud setup. For my tank size Ecosystem says to circulate about 900 gallons an hour and my pump does about 950. It seems almost as if this is too much water for the overflow to handle quietly. I have tried many different things to keep the overflow from sounding like Niagra Falls. Right now I have the overflow pipe from the overflow kit with both sponges that came with it stuffed over the inner mesh pipe. I also bought two big car wash sponges and squished them into the overflow as well to absorb some noise and splashing. Is there something eles I can try??? With out the car wash sponges it make a REALLY loud SLURPING noise.

What should I do??? Are the sponges going to cause a prolem? I washed them really well and tested the water that I squeezed out of them. It tested fine.

P.S. Also the water is milky. This has never happened on my other tanks. I have two 20 pound bags of Livesand from the LFS in it. Has been about 2 weeks since I put them in and have measurable Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates.

Oh man thanks! That is awesome and apparently works like a charm. It almost seems too simple. This will get my girlfried to start spending the night again. The overflow noise was driving her nuts!

I just put a durso in my 90g AGA. works great. You will have to trim 2" off of the long pipe in order for the glass lids to fit.

if you have questions send me an email.

I know I was trying to quite mine for weeks until I found a post here on how to fix it. I am glad that I could help a fellow reefer.
