the eternal question...

Bob at gotreef.com is where I got mine, but his site is down I think. Check it.

Everyone in the Bay Area is always looking for Southdown.

Check Tropical Paradise in San LEandro - Eddie might have something comparable.

Dudes!
You can get fine sand through this chap.
Stone Associates!!!!

Ask for Chuck:
Pager +cell:
1415-201-4735

Keep ringing and he WILL!! get back to you.
He diliveres and can get AAAASOME sand for your DSB.

He is in Mill Valley and traveles to Leandro/BazerklyHaywords/and all over Marin+Sonoma. 30-40yrs in the business and now he is Just out of his truck and knows! the business of SAND!!!

This chap will fix you up and set you straight with your sand needs.
I would bet there nothing! you could ask him about sand that he does not know, also with Marble and Granite.

To ALL! in the Bay Area!!! give this guy a call, you do not have to search for your DSB needs anymore and he is Extreamly nice and fair priced.

Just call him and tell him MT said to help you out, for the Reef people. He will be glad to cut you a great deal for small and large deals.
Maybe you want to just change a porshion of your bed and he can set you up with the Good sand.

Like Mandarinfish said, Tropical Paradise in San Leandro sells bags of pure aragonite for 25 Bucks a bag. This stuff is made by SD that's been washed so there aren't as many fine pieces, but still really good IMO. TP is worth the visit anyway, awesome clams and SPS tanks.

Can you give us some more info about Stone Associates? Can he get southdown or the equivalent? Do you know how much?

I just hate to call him up if I am not prepared to pay what he is normally asking for the sand.

:D

You should contact him and just tell him what you need.

This guy has dealt with sand and stone and simular products all his life.

His son is a distributor of these products.

A bag or two and or 2000lbs, whatever it is, he is very good at finding and filling orders and you do not have to travel all over the world and bridges around there and cart the sand to your door.
He will even bring it in and pour it in your tank. How easy is that?

It is at least worth a call. Could save you lots of time and trouble.

I paid him $50 bucks on day and he drove over to Hayward from Sonoma for some products and he spent all day, 6 hrs to complete the task.
I would say thats a pretty good deal.

I am sure of 20-30bucks he could get you 100-200 lbs and drop it at your door.
Thats cheep for all the work and driveing and whatever you end waisting your day on to possible get the right stuff.

Just a CALL and he does it ALL!!!!
