has anyone had any experience with AQUA C skimmers. I am planning a small 1200 gallon store system, and the price is very appealing. model #ev2000

I've heard AquaC's are pretty good, but I have no experience with them. Beckett injector skimmers are also reported to be pretty good, but again I have no direct experience with them.

I've seen quite a few posts where people put becket injectors on aqua-c skimmers.......

you can get a becket from myreef or geo, or one of the others cheaper and they are as good if not better quality

I have an Aqua C EV120 on my 105 tank and love it. It did take about a week for it to break in. Plus I am very satisfied with the customer service that Aqua C provided. My collection cup developed micro cracks after about 5 months of use and they replaced it right away. Again I love my skimmer.

Bought an EV120 about 8 months ago for my 75. Replaced a Berlin classic turbo (p.o.s.) with it. Very impressed with it's performance, It did take a couple of months (2-3) to settle down and produce a nice thick army green discharge. That could've been due to the lackluster performance by the berlin as well. Would definetly recommend buying one. FYI- I did place it on an eggcrate platform to raise the skimmer discharge pipe in order to allow for a higher water level in sump. Did not adversely affect performance.

Aqua C's customer service is 2nd to none. I have had an EV 200 for 2+years now and love it. It has it quirks that the newer models seem to have fixed. Once dialed in it is a solid performer. For ease of use the Euroreef products seem to be the way to go however. I believe they make units large enough for a 1200 gal system.

AquaC is a good skimmer- the only drawback IMO is that they go flat temporarily fairly easily- in my case when I stir up the substrate or feed freeze-dried mysids.

A drawback to the Euroreef is (I think) they only function in sump in a relatively shallow sump. In a store system I suspect that wouldn't be a good fit.

The larger models (8 and 12 series) can be made to function outside the sump. Email [email protected] and he can probably get you a large "blem" skimmer for a good price.
