Anyone know what this is? I have attached a pretty good photo of it. Since it is such a small specimen it was hard to get a great photo. It is about 1/16" in diameter. 8O

From what I have read and seen this does not look like Aiptasia sp. What do you think?

Thanks,

Dudah

Looks like it could be some variety of LPS. Hard to say when it's that small, even with a good picture. Looks like a mouth opening in the center of the disc. Try posting your question and pic over at the hitchhiker forum, if you've not already.

'cup' coral. solitary polyps-often occuring in small loose groups

you should be able to see the skeleton through the polyp.

often found as hitchhikers on lr, and perfectly harmless

Cool! Thanks. Yeah, I found it as a hitchhhiker on my lr. I am glad to hear that it is most likely not something I will have to remove/kill. I get so excited to think that I have something new growing in my tank.

I am pretty new to sw and the coolest thing about it is finding all the unexpected creatures!!!
