Well, most shrimp are predatory, but they shouldn't be making that huge of a dent in your populations.... Cleaner shrimp are pretty benign IME, but I've heard it said they think Stomatella's taste like 'Tender Vittles'.

Shrimps are oppotunistic feeders. They'll eat whatever they can get their claws on. A friend of mine had a cleaner shrimp decimate his worm population.

Unless it's a pretty big shrimp that won't look twice at a pewny little pod. Lobster comes to my mind, but of course shrimps that size won't get into any of our reef tanks.

I've never seen either my Pacific cleaner shrimps nor pepperment shrimps go after pods or other similarly sized critters. Not to say it can't happen, but in a normally-fed tank I can't imagine the predation would be large.

I've got a couple of Fire Shrimp (cleaners) in my 125 and they don't seem to be eating the pods. If they are, its not apparent and this is with me feeding maybe once a week right now. My tank is devoid of fish right now (in QT due to ich outbreak) and the pod and worm population has exploded. I see worms and pods everywhere, whereas before, I would generally see them right after the lights come on.

I was concerned about the shrimp eating pods issue before as well because I am planning on getting a mandarin and wanted to make sure it wouldn't have much competition for food.

I certainly love my sand bed and bugs. I wouldn't want to add something that would feed off of them but I want a shrimp.

I don't have a refugium but I have several PVC pieces and tubes behind my liverock and in my sand for places to hide. My sand bed is crawling it seems.

I want to add a refugium but I want to upgrade my lights too. I just dont know which one to do.
