Help, Help, Please I beg for Help.

I installed my new tank not to long ago and as soon as I turned on my pump all hell broke loose, gurgling, burping, flushing, splahing was occuring in the sump, I tryed everything the u-shape pipe submerging the pipe 2" deep, not submerging, making more holes on the Durso endcap, making them bigger I tryed for hours, days, nights I'm exausted.

Please help!

Note: Durso Standpipe is 1"1/2 and a 1"1/4 bulkhead and than back to a 1"1/2 flex tube under the tank to the sump bulkhead.

I'm actually working on this on my tank. I think you may be doing the same thing I am with the "U" shaped tube. But I'll tell you what I did and maybe it will help.

Most of my gurgling is coming from air sucked into the Durso standpipe which travels down into the sump and out of the submerged pipes. So I made a little snake of PVC and drilled small (make sure they are pretty small holes so large bubbles can't escape) holes all over the pipe. Attached is a picture of the snake.

I don't have any actual pictures of the pipe (I'll take some when I get home tonight), but the drawing above is what it looks like.

Thanks alot guys,

do you think that I should keep going with a 1"1/2 flex tube or should I reduce it to the diameter of my bulkhead( 1"1/4)?

Can I use only flex tube for the snake or should it be made of rigid PVC?

Oh, I was kinda confused firt but I know what you guys are talking about. It is a good idea. I did different and I made the pipe go inside a homemade skimmer and that's how I get about a gallon or two of dirt. Save money on airpump and pump for the skimmer. I made two types skimmer that works with gravity. I thought you guys were talking about the noise in the overflow. I do have pictures of my skimmers thta I need to upload if you guys are interested.

I just recently added 2 Durso pipes to my tank, a 2" with 1 1/2 bulkhead and a 1 1/2 with a 1" bulkhead. The noise I was getting was not a slurping of air but the flow noise of the air/water mix runing to the sump. I added reducers to the ends of the pipe inside the sump which seems to have reduced the velocity enough to quiet most of the noise yet still allows for the full flow from my ampmaster 300. The 1 1/2 has a 1" reducer and the 1" has a 3/4.
